The Cat Cabinet was founded in memory of the red tomcat John Pierpont Morgan (1966-1983). This special tomcat was the idiosyncratic companion of Bob Meijer, the founder of the Kattenkabinet, throughout his life.

Easter Monday April 21 – the museum is open.

The museum will be closed on April 26th due to King’s Day celebrations in Amsterdam.

Tickets can be be bought through the website or at the door

The Kattenkabinet is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 12:00 to 17:00

GUIDED CAT TOUR

Would you like to visit the Cat Cabinet with a small group and learn about the art at display? We now have the option to book a guided tour. This tour tells you more about the collection. What is it that so many different artists throughout history include cats in their work? Our tour guide will reveal the wonderous life stories behind some of these artists while walking you through an empty museum (the tour starts every Tuesday at 11:00, an hour before the museum opens; you can request other days by email (het.kattenkabinet@gmail.com) and we will let you know if it’s possible). The guided tour is available only in English. The tour can be booked from 2 people up to a maximum of 8 people..
